On Thursday, June 11, Bangladesh scripted history and registered their first-ever series win over Australia in ODIs. The Tigers handed the Kangaroos a five-wicket defeat. Bangladesh skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored the winning runs and sealed the series with a six.
In search of history, Mehidy Hasan Miraz ignored a lethal blow to his head, which eventually turned scary. For the unversed, in the 34th over of the 2nd innings, Miraz was hit on the side of his helmet off a sharp bouncer from Riley Meridith. However, the Bangladesh batter continued to bat and sealed the series for Bangladesh.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz Hospitalised Due To Concussion
As mentioned above, Mehidy Hasan continued to bat despite a blow to his head. After the match, the Bangladesh skipper experienced some pain and also vomited. The 28-year-old was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Hasan underwent scans and was kept under observation for 24 hours. "He continued to play after being assessed in the middle. We have sent him to the hospital to assess the rest of his signs and for general observation. He will be there for the next 24 hours," The Bangladesh team physio remarked.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz Discharged From Hospital
In the latest development, Bangladesh skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been discharged from the hospital. During his time at the nursing home, Mehidy Hasan Miraz underwent two scans, which came out positive, following which he was sent back home.
"Mehidy was under observation for almost 12 hours at Evercare Hospital. He underwent a scan, and the report of the first scan was good," team doctor remarked.
"Today, he underwent a second scan, and since the report has come out good, he has been released from the hospital. I am not sure about practice tomorrow, but definitely our doctors and physio will be in communication with him regarding availability," he added.
Will Mehidy Hasan Miraz Play 3rd And Final ODI vs Australia?
As things stand, a report from Crickbuuz stated that Miraz has been sent home but he will miss the training session on June 13, casting doubt over his participation for the 3rd ODI on June 14. However, the same report added that there are no changes to the squad for the third ODI.
Although it seems that Bangladesh will allow Mehidy to rest because the Tigers have already clinched the series. In his absence, Najmul Hossain Shanto is most likely to lead the team.
However, Bangladesh will certainly miss Mehidy Hasan Miraz if he misses the final ODI. So far, in the series, Miraz has scored 25 runs in 2 innings, while he was yet to pick a wicket. Although, his leadership was on point, which will be missed because Bangladesh are searching for a clean sweep.
