Grandson of former India Test cricketer Vasant Ranjane and son of former India U19 and Maharashtra player Subash, it was quite obvious that Shubham would take up cricket as a profession. After representing Maharashtra in the U19 and U23 age groups, Shubham moved to Mumbai to get noticed. He was the third all-rounder picked by the Royals at the VIVO IPL player auction before the 2019 season.
