A product of Essex’s academy, Rishi Patel is a right-handed middle-order batsman who plays for Leicestershire.
Patel played age-group cricket for Essex and made four Championship appearances during the clubs’ title-winning campaign in 2019.
He signed his first professional contract with Essex in 2018 and made his first-class debut for Cambridge MCCU against Essex, as a part of the Marylebone Cricket Club University fixtures.
A year later, Patel made his List-A debut for Essex in the 2019 Royal One-Day Cup. His meteoric rise in stature continued as the talented batter signed a deal with Leicestershire in 2020, and he made his Twenty20 debut for Leicestershire in the 2021 Natwest T20 Blast.
A crafty batsman, Patel’s temperament is his biggest asset. The Essex born has an array of strokes and has utilized them to perfection.
