Cara Murray - another exciting new generation of players from the Emerald Isle, she is a leg-break bowler who is known for her sharp googlies. Murray is an upcoming professional player for the Ireland national team, while she representing Waringstown at the domestic level.
Born in Co-Antrim, Murray used to play and was captain of her school's hockey team. However, cricket became a priority in her life. She started playing for Waringstown from the U-17 level itself and helped them win the Premier League title.
Soon, the leggie was awarded the Irish caps and her international debuts. She made her T20I debut for Ireland against New Zealand in 2018 and her ODI debut came against the same opposition, two days later. Murray grabbed wickets of Suzie Bates and Amy Satterthwaite on her ODI debut, but the White Ferns reprimanded the Irish with 119 runs in the spell of 10 overs.
Murray might not have had the best of starts to her international career, but the leg-spinner has the mantle and skill level to make an inspirational comeback. With Ireland getting their due chances, now, the spinner can stamp her authority on the world stage, in the coming future.
