One of the best batsmen if not the best in the current Nepalese squad, Binod Bhandari has been a part of the national team since 2009. A flamboyant wicket-keeper batsman, Binod had a fairytale beginning of his career when he struck a six against Kuwait on the final ball to force a ball-out that Nepal eventually won.
Binod made his T20I debut against Hong Kong in March 2014 and a couple of months later, he was named in Nepal’s T20 squad for the 2014 T20 World Cup. His slide started with the 2015 ICC World Cup Qualifiers when he accumulated 7 runs in 4 innings and was eventually sidelined from the squad. The poor run took a toll on him and he was dropped from Nepal’s squad for the 2018 ICC World Cricket League.
The 31-year old returned back as a different batsman in the domestic circuit and was recalled to the national side for the T20I series against Malaysia. He repaid the faith shown by the selectors smacking a 25 ball 51 in the first of the 2-match series. His ups and downs have turned him into a more mature and shrewd cricketer and is now looking to shed his experience to the upcoming youngsters in this crucial juncture of Nepali cricket.
